While it can be hard to catch the meaning of the word in a phrase, it is safe to say as much as this regarding baroque music: much of it is characterized by very dynamic movement and by a broad range of emotional expressions. It is music from a theatrical universe, grotesque, sometimes even slightly decadent, and often unearthly beautiful. The music of heroic yet fragile human beings, reaching for the sky above, falling back on the ground beneath their feet, rollercoastering down all the way to hell. Because this music is so human in its nature it feels all too recognizable and for BOX that’s the whole point. It is about playing music of our own time in a baroque way, not about playing baroque music.

We’re not an orchestra, we’re providing an orchestration. In other words: through our choice of instruments we can apply a specific instrumental colour to… well… pretty much anything (hence X).
